In March 2025, Haiti’s transitional government hired Vectus Global, a private military company run by the former CEO of Blackwater, to support ongoing security operations against armed gangs that have control of large portions of the country, implement revenue and tax collection systems, control cross-border mineral smuggling, and assume a 10 year advising role to the government.
